Tidy up your tack:
Storage, organisation and more!
One task that often gets ignored when life gets busy is spring cleaning. It starts with one Bridle out of place and before you know it, you can’t find where you put anything. Tidying your tack room can seem like a daunting task but we’ve got some easy tips to make the process run smoothly.
Start with a blank space
Remove everything from your tack room. This allows you to understand the space you are working with and is a great way to sort through outdated, unused, or unnecessary items. Then, organise your remaining items into groups, this will help you work out a floor plan for your new layout.
Make the most of your space
Using wall storage, hooks, racks or shelves can be a great way to make the most of a small space. Hanging bridles, halters and other equipment on hooks can free up floor space for other bulkier items.
Create designated spaces
Group your items together to reduce wasted space. Keep bulkier items in easy to reach areas and hang lighter items like bridles on the walls.
Invest in storage solutions
Prevent your space from getting unorganised again by investing in some storage. Storage not only keeps the space clean, but it also protects your items from damage. Investing in saddle racks with saddle pad holders is a great way to maximise your space. Containers and bins are also a great way to protect items from dust and damage. Find containers that neatly stack together and place the items you use least on the bottom.
Portable grooming boxes are also a way to keep all of your most used items together and easy to move around. Finding multi-use boxes that double as a step can cut down on items in your tack room.
Label everything clearly
If you choose to use storage bins, label them to make it easier to find things. If you have multiple horses, you can also colour code them and assign a different colour to each horse. Knowing where everything is will make it easier to keep the space tidy.
By implementing these organisational strategies, you can create an efficient, tidy tack room that makes it easy to find what you need and keeps your equipment in good condition. Remember to periodically reassess and reorganize as needed to maintain the system.
